Marinating Moments

Immersed in God's Rich Word

Marinating Moments: Immersed in God’s Savory Word, was written with the Christian struggling for time and motivation in mind.  Today’s busy lives are a bane to a Christian’s devotional time.  The driving thought behind the stories in the book is geared to give the reader motivation toward gaining knowledge of God’s Word and to inspire thought provocation and life application, as the reader reflects on the Word.  Additionally, the questions at the end of each ‘Marinade’ are sculpted to provoke conversation in a group setting, or an individual’s self-introspection.

The spiritual truths found in the Word of God are the marinade in which human souls should bathe. Immersing ourselves in the enzyme action of God’s transforming Word, steeping in the authenticity of His divine reason, will condition and tenderize our hearts for His service. The ultimate result will produce succulent, plump, and savory fruit of the Spirit in and through our lives.

Each ‘Marinade’ within the book is designed to immerse the reader in a unique way of Bible study.  The same Bible, but with a fresh and hopefully creative view.

Scripture is a rich sauce with many ingredients and textures meant to be savored, not gulped down and forgotten about. The stories in Marinating Moments are designed to help us slow down—push the pause button on our busy lives—and meditate in God’s rich word. Like an onion, the stories of the Bible have many layers, each one revealing a new lesson and point of view.

Using parables and allegories for the modern-day reader, author and teacher Marc Knutson offers a fresh way of looking at biblical stories without adding or subtracting from the Bible’s inerrant message. Each story is a quick read, but will linger long after, inspiring deeper reflection and real-life personal application. Reflection questions can be used for individual devotion, journaling, or as a small-group discussion guide.

“And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written.  Amen.”
